East Bay Senior High School was chartered in 1957 on Big Bend Road in Gibsonton, Florida. The school's current facility was established in 1971, on a new campus adjacent to the east of the old one. Its former campus is now the campus of Eisenhower Middle School.

General information

East Bay High School is located in Gibsonton. It generally attracts students from Apollo Beach, Gibsonton, and Riverview, however it once hosted students from as far south as Ruskin and Sun City to as far north as the Clair-mel and Progress Village subdivisions.

The school surpasses its 1,700 student capacity on a regular basis. In the 2005-2006 school year, the school held around 2,300 students. With the opening of two new high schools--Spoto High School and Earl J. Lennard High School--in 2006, the school's population since then holds steady at around 2,000 students.

The principal is Maria Gsell.

East Bay's Athletic Director is Scot Tipton.

Former East Bay wrestling coach Tom Lota was a 2006 inductee into the Florida Wrestling Hall of Fame.[1] In 2011, the school gymnasium was named for him.

Mascot, motto, and colors

The school's mascot is the "Fighting Indians". The campus is adorned with many Indian-related Senior Class projects, most notably the full-sized wall paintings of an Indian warrior in the gymnasium.[2]

The school colors are crimson (red) and grey.

East Bay Marching Indians Marching Band

The East Bay Marching Indians Band travels throughout Hillsborough County and performs their half-time show at varsity football games. They also compete in the "Lion's Pride Marching Competition", MPA (Music Performance Assessment)and etc. The band is currently under the direction of Evan Marsh. The 2011 halftime show is "Havana Nights". The band recently received a Superior rating from their 2011 FBA Music Performance Assessment.
